When you are hosting a holiday party for the family and friends in your apartment in Roanoke, VA entertaining can be stressful. Of course you want everything to be perfect.
Here are some simple tips from Honeywood Apartment Homes on how to make entertaining more enjoyable for everyone.
What’s the plan
Plan out the event. How many are coming? What's on the menu? How should the house look? Do you have enough seating? Make a to-do list and set deadlines for yourself. Doing as much as possible in advance will make the day of the party that much easier.
Use your space wisely
The size of the meal may expand during the holidays, but cooking and serving space doesn't. On the buffet table, tiered servers hold appetizers and desserts vertically, saving valuable space and creating an attractive display.
The host should enjoy too
A relaxed host makes guests feel comfortable. Don’t be too busy that you forget to enjoy yourself. Organize your kitchen so that most of the clean-up can be done later. Have take home containers handy for leftovers so you can send leftovers home with guest. Designate an area in the kitchen for dirty dishes, forget the rest of the clean up until after your guests leave.
As the host you set the tone of the party. Don’t worry about making your party perfect; what makes it perfect is keeping the focus on family and friends!
The newest data confirms once again that the Roanoke Region of Virginia offers a comparably low cost of living -- second lowest metro in the Commonwealth and 7.4% lower than the national average. The Roanoke Region's cost of living index value is 92.6 compared to the national average of 100, according to the Council for Community and Economic Research's Cost of Living Index for the second quarter 2011. The Roanoke Region's costs are lower than nearly 65% of metros across the country.
The region's cost advantages are strong across the board but are particularly strong in terms of food prices, housing costs, and transportation costs.
If you live in a home or apartment in Roanoke, Virginia, here's a great hurricane awareness check list to look at. Secure Your Home
Put freestanding objects inside
Plan for your pets. Make sure you have pet food, collar and leash and crates, if necessary
Designate a safe room with no widows or exterior walls.
Plan for Your Personal Safety and Security
Keep emergency phone numbers by the phone; include out-of-state contacts for family members.
Assemble an emergency preparedness kit (enough supplies for three to five days) with bottled water (one gallon per person per day), battery-operated radio or TV with extra batteries, first aid kit, flashlight and packaged snacks. Remember to include baby supplies and food, manual can opener, hand sanitizer or wipes, and extra house and car keys.
Gather all necessary prescriptions and medical supplies to take at a moment's notice.
Place all important documents -- including your insurance policies -- in a waterproof bag to take with you. Include documents like wills, deeds, birth and tax records, and marriage certificate, proof of residence, home photos, and driver's license and vehicle registration. Include house and car keys
Take cash and change
Listen to media broadcasts, especially paying attention to any calls for evacuation
Call 311 (Emergency Evacuation Assistance) if a family member needs special care.
Check Your Insurance Coverage
Flood and windstorm insurance are not automatically covered by renters insurance.
Nearly 40% of foreclosures today involve a single family house, condominium, or other housing rented out by its owner. When this occurs, the renter can lose their lease and be forced to move on short notice. This is just one of many reasons why it is smarter to rent from the professionals at HHHunt than a private individual! HHHunt is a professional management company that gives their residents peace of mind, great amenities, customer service, and convenient locations.
One of the most important aspects of renting at an HHHunt Community is our amazing on-site maintenance teams. With an individual owner, you will typically have to wait for contractors or your landlord to address any issues. Single family homes rarely have a pool, fitness center, or a full-time management team to answer questions. Lastly, many private owners and landlords do not understand your rights as a resident but our teams are well-trained in this area. Peace of mind is our goal for you.
We hope that you continue to rent smart in the years to come!
