More Reasons it is Better to Rent

- Friday, March 02, 2012

There are so many reasons for renting, and the debate about buying or renting continues. There is much to be said for owning your own home, but today, that is no longer the priority for many. With the argument being made about renting instead of buying, more people are listening.

The flexibility of renting an apartment in Roanoke, VA is a big factor for many people. If they change jobs, it’s easier and faster to get out of your lease than put your home on the market. Not to mention, your money is tied up in the home until you sell it.

Another big factor in renting an apartment home is avoiding the hidden costs of home ownership. You can budget for your monthly mortgage, but many people forget to consider insurance, repairs, utilities, appliances and maintenance. Without those hidden costs, depending on where you live, you can actually get more home for your money if you rent.

Consider this, you will have more free time when you rent. We all know someone who owns a home. How do they spend their weekends: mowing, weeding, repairing, painting? Of course they do. As a renter, when you have time off, that time is your time. Do what you want with it; get out and explore Roanoke and surrounds, or sit on your couch and watch old movies with friends. The choice is yours.

In Roanoke it is a Renters Market

- Friday, November 25, 2011

These days, real estate brokers are dealing with declining home sales and would have their clients believe that there is no better time than the present to buy a home. Prices are down and mortgage rates are at all-time lows.

Unfortunately for the brokers, many clients are not persuaded by that logic. Instead, in increasing numbers, people are choosing to rent their homes  — unconvinced that the housing market has yet hit bottom.

Apartments in Roanoke, VA are in a fabulous location and offer amenities that cannot be found in any old home, renting in Roanoke is a great option for many. With renting you also have a broad mix of people making up your community; the young student residents, new families, empty nesters and retirees.  For many, homeownership in no longer on their wish list.

Nationally, vacancy rates for apartments are projected to drop to 4.6 this year, down from 5% currently.  If you are interested in the new trend of renting, and are moving to or within Roanoke, contact Honeywood Apartments.

Wine in Roanoke

- Wednesday, September 07, 2011

The City Market building just reopened in Roanoke, and if you have not seen it yet, now is the perfect opportunity.

The Roanoke's farmer's market offers fresh, homegrown produce, and more.  Grab a friend or neighbor from your apartment in Roanoke, VA and sample some of Virginia's wine at the Cellar Door. The first event is tomorrow from 5pm-8pm.

It is a tasting event all about local Virginia wines; come to The Cellar door at the City Market. Much more than a wine tasting, it is a social event. Wine is a big piece of Southwestern VA, so this historic city market is going to showcase plenty of it. Our local agriculture includes wine, so come on out after work and sample vintages from 4 local wineries, as well as a meadery, there will also be hard cider available.

All the wines to be sampled will be brought down by the growers and producers who will tell you about the wine and their vineyards. You may even learn how to taste wine at this low pressure wine tasting event.

Wine will be for sale by the glass and by the bottle. The Cellar Door at the City Market happens on the second Thursday of each month through November and is only $5 per person. Get a great wine tasting glass and when you return on the second Thursday of the month, it is only $1 when you bring your glass.

Rent Smart!

- Thursday, August 11, 2011

Nearly 40% of foreclosures today involve a single family house, condominium, or other housing rented out by its owner. When this occurs, the renter can lose their lease and be forced to move on short notice. This is just one of many reasons why it is smarter to rent from the professionals at HHHunt than a private individual! HHHunt is a professional management company that gives their residents peace of mind, great amenities, customer service, and convenient locations.

One of the most important aspects of renting at an HHHunt Community is our amazing on-site maintenance teams. With an individual owner, you will typically have to wait for contractors or your landlord to address any issues. Single family homes rarely have a pool, fitness center, or a full-time management team to answer questions. Lastly, many private owners and landlords do not understand your rights as a resident but our teams are well-trained in this area. Peace of mind is our goal for you.

We hope that you continue to rent smart in the years to come!
