If you live in an apartment in Roanoke, VA you may be thrilled to hear the city is opening a new dog park.
It's a great park.
City officials, community leaders and representatives of the Roanoke Valley SPCA Tuesday morning cut the ribbon on the new park .
Located next to the tennis courts in Thrasher Park, the new dog park is Roanoke's second, similar to the popular facility in Highland Park.
The new dog park has a full acre of fenced-in area for dogs to enjoy. It includes designated areas for small and large animals.
Denise Hayes is the CEO of the Roanoke Valley SPCA, which is located about a half-mile from the park.
"Our volunteer dog walkers often take our dogs for walks, but now they can actually take them for a walk and bring them to an off-leash play area," Hayes said in an interview. "We unfortunately don't have that in our facility, so this will be a unique opportunity."
